Ferry to cross from Paya del Carmen to Cozumel Island
The largest inhabitant island in Mexico, Cozumel is famous for its reef chain, and 18 miles of protected area running along the coast.
This system is formed by two enormous barriers where different coral species grow at depths varying from 16 to 66 feet.
The best known is Palancar due to its walls of coral from caves and tunnels carpeted with coral and sea fans.
On this reef alone, there are more than half a dozen diving sites with visibility ranging from 165 to 230 feet.
Other popular dive sites are Punta Tunich, Maracaibo, Colombia, Yucab, and Tormentos: all ideal for underwater photography.
The water is sufficiently shallow in some parts of the coast to permit snorkeling, as in the Chankanaab National Park, which also features botanical gardens and outdoor cultural exhibits.

The Cozumel Channel is one of the best sportfishing grounds in the area. During the spring, marlin, sailfish, and other species are plentiful; a fishing tournament is staged in May. Schools of dolphins may follow in the wake of your yacht as you cross the channel.
Diving, fishing, and beaches aside, Cozumel has a long history. Hotels line the leeward shore of the island.
San Miguel, the island’s capital still retains its pleasant, provisional atmosphere and is a good place to shop for crafts and jewelry.
Bikes, mopeds, and cars are available for rent, and taxis and buses also operate.
The island has a yacht club with good facilities for seafarers and a sheltered harbor.
There are ferry services to Playa del Carmen(passenger ferries) and Puerto Morelos (car ferry) and the island has air connections
to Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Mexico City, and destinations in the United States.
